Commercial transparency

Affiliate disclosure

PetPence keeps retailer comparison independent from affiliate relationships and clearly identifies every commercial link before it is used.

Current position

Amazon Associates is an established route. Wilko now has an audited Awin product-feed source with exact product deep links. Wilko prices and stock are shown only from the active validated snapshot and for conservative exact product mappings. Delivery is not supplied by the feed, so Wilko item prices are not ranked as the lowest delivered total. Pets Calm Down and Your Pet Nutrition UK now have reviewed Awin snapshots for a curated set of Health & Wellness products. Their seasonal, promotional, unrelated and ambiguous rows are not automatically published. Aosom UK now supplies the Accessories directory from the reviewed 1,145-row pet-only snapshot; the unrelated remainder of its catalogue is not imported. Itch Pet supplies reviewed Health & Wellness listings and three clean-up accessory rows. Simply Supplements / VitaPaws supplies reviewed wellness listings. Treat and food rows that do not satisfy PetPence's existing evidence rules remain held out. Other retailer applications and enquiries remain pending or under clarification. Affiliate approval and retailer product-data access are tracked separately.

Sovrn Commerce verification

PetPence already has one Sovrn Commerce account. The genuine first click has been recognised and the site is now under review. PetPence will not simulate further clicks or create a duplicate account. The Animed Direct button appears only while the genuine Sovrn-generated destination remains securely configured.

Current network status

  • Sovrn Commerce: existing account; genuine first click recognised; site review under review.
  • Skimlinks: publisher approval pending; its code is not relied on for core comparison.
  • Awin: Wilko exact product links are active for approved mappings. Pets Calm Down, Your Pet Nutrition UK, Itch Pet and Simply Supplements / VitaPaws use exact tracked links from reviewed commercial snapshots for eligible Health & Wellness products. Aosom UK and selected Itch Pet products use exact tracked links in Accessories. Only Wilko has a verified automatic refresh path; no automatic refresh is claimed for these static snapshot advertisers. Other applications, including Zooplus and VioVet, remain pending.
  • Direct/network enquiries: Pets at Home, Jollyes, Petplanet, Petshop.co.uk and Bitiba remain unresolved.

How affiliate links work

PetPence may receive a commission when a user follows a clearly labelled retailer link and completes a qualifying purchase. This should not increase the customer’s price. The retailer remains responsible for the product, checkout, delivery, returns and customer service.

How links will be labelled

PetPence places a clear disclosure next to the external commercial retailer action. Exact Wilko, Pets Calm Down and Your Pet Nutrition UK destinations, together with eligible Aosom UK, Itch Pet and Simply Supplements / VitaPaws destinations, are supplied by Awin and are not reconstructed. Internal Compare and View details controls are not commercial links. Eligible retailer buttons may use affiliate links, and the customer-facing disclosure appears beside that action. A reorder notification first opens the user’s private PetPence page; it does not silently redirect.

Comparison independence

Best-value results are calculated from total price, pack quantity, verified delivery and supported discounts—not from the commission a retailer may pay. When delivery is unknown, as it is in the supplied Wilko feed, PetPence labels the item price and excludes it from the delivered-total ranking. A retailer may be shown even when PetPence receives no commission from it.

Advertising standards

PetPence aims to follow the UK CAP Code requirement that affiliate advertising is obviously identifiable. For further information, see the official ASA guidance on online affiliate marketing.
